A Rotary Community Corps (RCC) is a volunteer group sponsored by a local Rotary Club that enables non-Rotarians to organize and carry out service projects in their own community. Think of it as a way for a Rotary club to extend its impact beyond its membership by empowering local residents to identify community needs and address them.
How it works
A Rotary club sponsors the RCC, which then engages volunteer members from the community—they do not have to be Rotarians. The RCC elects its own officers and identifies projects based on local needs. The sponsoring Rotary club provides guidance, mentoring, and often financial or logistical support.
Typical projects include food security and community gardens, youth mentoring, environmental conservation, literacy programs, senior citizen assistance, neighborhood beautification, and public health initiatives.
Creating an RCC allows a Rotary club to involve people who want to serve but don’t want the commitment of Rotary membership, build leadership within the community, sustain long-term projects that require many volunteers, and Increase Rotary’s visibility and impact.
